Laying in the most comfortable tent, watching the flickering candle light and the flowing ceiling of the tent. It’s entrance that showed the desert whenever a little breeze tried to find it’s way in. Listening to, well, nothing actually. Maybe a camel walking by. One of the most relaxing and dreamy places you can imagine. I was sure to get back to Scarabeo Camp again one day.
I wouldn’t have thought back then it would be on a dream assignment for this exact same place. But this time we didn’t stay just in the Agafay desert. Scarabeo teamed up with Insiders Experience and it’s vintage sidecars to be able to move the dream around the country of Morocco. And a dream trip it was.
After another night and a good breakfast at the camp we went on a tour through little Berber villages and the impressive Atlas Mountains. The motorbikes got quite some attention from everyone we passed by and caused a lovely interaction with the locals. The sidecar provided me the perfect seat to have a good look around me, wave at all the Moroccan kids along the road, take my pictures and avoid an occasional stick of someone who didn’t want to be captured on camera.
With a few stops to take in the breathtaking views and a mint tea here and there we ended the first day arriving during golden hour in a little hidden forest somewhere up in the mountains. The Scarabeo magic again. This time outside of the desert. The tents we would sleep in were set up upon arrival in between the trees that caught the last rays of sunlight. The table was ready for our tajines by candlelight and the night ended with red wine by the campfire.
The next day we were off for more exploring on our way to the coast where we would be spending the next night. Another arrival there right on time for the next amazing sun to set. This time on the beach with dunes that looked like a little part of the Sahara. A tent for us to sleep in hidden somewhere in between the sandy hills and another dinner under the stars to end this trip with one last night. What a dream. Time to wake up now..
