A couple of sunny days in Holland with blue skies and sunshine and we can feel the spring is in the air! The days are getting longer again and we take every chance to go outside and preferably have some drinks on a sunny terrace.
This feeling reminds me of my short trip to Mallorca last september where I enjoyed some sunbeams as well. Feels like a long time ago but and even though it was just for 3 days it was totally worth it. Enough to get a good impression of Mallorca. An island of which I always thought it would be too touristic and commercial. I was wrong: I will definitely go back again, and longer.
Stunning nature, blue seas and interesting restaurants. From local hidden gems to trendy eateries. The reason why to go to this island was inspired by Todd Selby. More about Mallorca and the places I visited will follow!

We started off with a delicious Ortiz anchovy pastry, followed by the tuna tartar with slightly smoked kohlrabi, fromage blanc, bottarga and lavas. This might have been the highlight of my meal although the following course with pickled mussels, bean salad and almond, fennel cream was very, very impressive as well.

New York is loaded with beautiful, good looking, hip and happening places but high on my to do list was the maybe not so hipster but still happening Katz’s Deli. The kosher style restaurant is famous for their pastrami sandwiches which, as a pastrami fetishist, I had to try. The super-kingsized sandwich with huge pickles on the side was everything, and more, I hoped for. But actually, it was Peter, Susi and Vera who made my Katz’s experience unforgettable. These dedicated Katz’s fans never miss the opportunity to go there whenever they’re in New York, taking the post-pastrami burps for granted. The wonderful company of these warm and friendly people made this one of the best evenings I had in New York, if not the best.
